Today, of all days and in such a week, I choose to be thankful for life, my life and the lives of others.
I am thankful for rescue workers and blood donors and vigil keepers and runners and countrymen and women who live to love others as themselves.
I am thankful for my faith community, who lives to follow Jesus into the pain, brokenness, joy, and hope of our humanity.
I am thankful for friends, those from the past and present, and those I will know in the future, and for their kindness and encouragement.
I am thankful for family, the two parents I spoke with earlier this week, and my extended family, for their constant love and support in all I do and wish to do.
And I am thankful for some of the “smaller” things as well.
I am thankful for the fact that I was able to finish a great book this week and start on another today. I am thankful for the customer at Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday who gave her $5 off coupon to the woman in front of her, who had forgotten her coupon at home. I am thankful for the time I get to spend with my Little Sister Laney, playing Wii Tennis and beating each other’s high scores. I am thankful for running dates with Bryce. I am thankful for Sister2Sister, and the bittersweetness that comes with coordinating my second-to-last meeting of the semester tonight.
And…I am thankful for Kline’s Red Velvet ice cream. Seriously. That stuff is delicious.
What are you thankful for this week? Please share and shed some light and joy this week 🙂
